Getting Started

How Applied Solar's Professionals help you through the process of Finding a solar solution to high energy bills.

Initial Solar Application Evaluation And Cost / Benefit Determination

When you contact us, we start by determining the type and size of solar system that is right for you. To assist us, we ask you to provide the following:

  • Your contact information, including your name, address, email address (if available), and a daytime phone number,

  • Your electrical use history for at least a 12 month period

  • A description of your south facing roof, including the type of roofing material, its age and condition. If you do not have an available south facing roof area, then a description of an area of your property that faces to the south.

  • Your current electricity charges and an indication of the amount of your electricity costs that you would like to eliminate.

Our Solar Pro Staff will then provide a cost estimate specifically designed to meet your energy needs. If you are satisfied with the system cost and electricity savings, we will schedule a site survey, after which we will provide:

  • A professionally designed system for your specific site.

  • A price quotation that includes all equipment, installation, permit fees, inspections, utility interconnection contracts and rebate incentives currently available from Oncor or others.

  • A complete financial analysis of return on investment for your system, including all tax credits and federal, state and local incentives currently available.

Applied Solar, LLC will then fill out and submit a pre-application for the Oncor rebate program.

Contracting and scheduling

Once you have decided to have a solar system installed on your home or business, and after you have had the opportunity to consult with one of our Solar Pros to ensure that all of your questions have been answered and your application has been approved for any rebates that may apply, the next steps are:

  • Sign our installation agreement which will require a $1,000 deposit. Under Texas law you may void this agreement by written request within three business days.

  • A building permit will be obtained and your new solar equipment will be ordered. We will have your new solar installation operating within sixty days. A licensed electrician will determine the procedure by which your interconnection will be made.

 About the Installation Process

The experienced crews at Applied Solar will typically install a residential solar system in three to five days, weather permitting. Commercial installations will vary according to the size of the system.

  • The cost of the solar system equipment (as determined from the quotation) will be due when the equipment is delivered to your location. The balance of the contract is due when the installation is completed.

  • Once the work is completed, your utility will install a new digital meter which will have the ability to measure and record the amount of clean, renewable power that is fed into the utility grid by your new solar system. You will have the option of collecting payment from a retail service provider for this outflow. You will begin making clean, renewable solar electricity and helping our nation's energy future.
